Wahoo Kickr16 / Kickr 2: Unboxing, Building, First Ride.

Wahoo Kickr16 / Kickr 2: Unboxing, Building, First Ride + data analysis.

Here's my review/overview of my new Kickr16/Kickr2. Unboxing, building, stress tests, data review, and some side-by-side comparisons with the original Kickr. If anyone's looking at upgrading or taking the leap to their first smart trainer, this will be worth a watch.

Hi Shane, great vid, as always is .....quick one ....the firmware update for the 'old' KicKr ....do you know when that may drop and exactly what it may entail ? just wondering if its worth the extra $300 odd dollars in the 'new' version ...for a handle and a few decibels less whirrrrrrring :)

Cheers
Paul

Not sure Paul. It has been in beta for a while now.... so hopefully soon. Might be worth shooting Wahoo Support a query to see if they are releasing it to select users for more feedback.

Hey lama. I've got a rocknroll and I use virtual power on trainerroad. Should I buy a kickr or spend less on a second power meter for the rocknroll bike?

Entirely up to you mate. I don't often tell people what to buy... there's so many variables. My Trainer Guide (link above) gives a rundown on every trainer I've used to date. That might help?

Thanks Lama. If i can ask a different way, do you think you get a better training response using a smart trainer that changes resistance V a dumb trainer that requires gear changes?
With the rocknroll my aerobic fitness is really good, but i think? i'm not as good on higher grade climbs.
Will being able to work at 120% FTP at 75 rpm on a smart trainer help that out?

That's one for a coach who knows your numbers, your history, your ability, and the fight you have within to hit those high numbers in sessions. It'd be unwise of me to advise yes/no on those kind of specifics. I love my LeMond for some intervals/sessions. I love the Smart Trainers for other work I do for training.

Shane,

You seemed to really like the CycleOps Hammer, saying you would give it an 8 once you have one and get a software tweak. Would you still rate the Kicker 2 higher or if buying for the 1st time, and price being the same, would you still go with the Kicker 2 over the CycleOps Hammer?

Thanks... Awesome info...
